Super senior citizen pensioners aged 80 years and above who receive their pension through Punjab National Bank (PNB) can now submit their annual Life Certificate starting from October 1, 2025. This early submission window has been introduced to help them avoid the heavy rush typical in November and to ensure the timely credit of their pension.
PNB offers multiple convenient options to submit the Life Certificate, catering especially to the needs and comfort of super senior citizens:
- Face Authentication via Jeevan Pramaan App: Pensioners can use the biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based Jeevan Pramaan mobile app to generate their Digital Life Certificate using face recognition. This method only requires a smartphone with a camera and an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, eliminating the need to visit a bank branch or use external devices.
- Biometric Authentication: Pensioners can visit the nearest PNB branch or a Common Service Centre (CSC) for biometric verification assistance to instantly generate the Digital Life Certificate.
- Doorstep Banking Service: For pensioners unable to visit branches, PNB provides a Doorstep Banking service where a bank representative visits their residence and completes the certificate submission process through biometric verification. This service can be booked via the Doorstep Banking Alliance app or by contacting PNB customer care.
- Physical Submission at Branch: Pensioners also have the option to physically submit their Life Certificate at any PNB branch by carrying valid identification and pension documents. The bank official acknowledges the submission for record-keeping.
This special provision for early Life Certificate submission in October aligns with the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) directive, ensuring super senior citizens receive the necessary services smoothly to maintain pension continuity. Banks are mandated to equip their branches to provide Digital Life Certificate services starting October 1, 2025, specifically for super senior pensioners.
The Digital Life Certificate, or Jeevan Pramaan, uses Aadhaar-based biometric authentication and is legally recognized under the IT Act. It helps pensioners conveniently prove their existence to pension disbursing authorities without repetitive physical visits, thereby simplifying and securing the pension disbursal process.
In summary, super senior citizen pensioners at PNB have multiple easy online and offline avenues to submit their Life Certificate starting October 1, 2025, ensuring a hassle-free experience and uninterrupted pension credit.
